The Bremen Dialogue aims to promote strategic exchange between the German Armed Forces, industry, research and the Federal Ministry of Defence, with the goal of jointly identifying the German Navy’s specific capability requirements and developing them further with the aid of technology.
Around 90 experts from the German Armed Forces, industry, research and ministries attended the dialogue, which focused on the impact that unmanned systems and artificial intelligence will have on the future tactical and operational command of maritime operations. Rheinmetall is a leading technology driver with concrete application scenarios in this area.
These technologies are becoming increasingly important in the maritime context, especially in the face of hybrid threats. The war in Ukraine has revealed new and old threat scenarios, including sea mines in the Black Sea, drone attacks on supply ships and cyberattacks on port facilities.
At this year’s meeting, hosted by TKMS Atlas Elektronik GmbH, Rheinmetall announced that it will take the lead in organising the 3rd Bremen Dialogue in 2026. As a driving force and long-standing partner of the German Navy, Rheinmetall is committed to ensuring that the dialogue continues. Through this initiative, the company intends to contribute further to the security policy turning point and the operational strengthening of Navy 2035+.
