Well positioned for the future – MOTEG draws initial conclusions after 18 months under new ownership

As part of fundamental structural corporate decisions with a view to the long-term competitiveness of the company , MOTEG GmbH took a fundamental step into the future in February 2024 with a change of ownership. As the main owner and being part of a group of owners with HN Holding GmbH, MOTEG GmbH and its founder Dr Siegfried Götz, the French company Poclain Hydraulics Industries SAS has been instrumental in determining the strategic direction of the company, which is based in Handewitt, Schleswig-Holstein, and was founded in 2014. After over a year and a half under new ownership, the management team is taking stock of the changes made during this transition phase, assessing the initial impact on the product portfolio and the associated market response, and giving an outlook for the next 12 months.

"The past 18 months have been challenging, but also very constructive and productive," says MOTEG CEO Dr Siegfried Götz, summing up the transition phase associated with the change of ownership. The focus was on making the necessary adjustments to established processes in line with the structures of the new principal owner. As part of these coordination measures, the customer relationship management system (CRM) used by Proclain was extended to MOTEG in order to drive forward the continued digitisation and industrialisation of manufacturing and all related processes in the company.

Special attention should be paid to the new electric motor and auxiliary unit projects that have already been launched since the change of ownership, with which MOTEG intends to demonstrate its expertise also within new corporate structures and to maintain and further expand its competitive position in the long term.

MOTEG uses the example of the new generation of motors in the 10-65 kW / 48-850 VDC (34-600 VAC) / 1500-6000 rpm range to demonstrate the benefits of integration into a strong and versatile Group family: Customers for example have the option of ordering the new motors either with converters from sister company Emsiso or together with hydraulic pumps from Poclain.

The latter are part of the new product segment for customers in the construction and agricultural machinery sector, to whom MOTEG, together with Proclain, the company responsible for sales in this sector, can provide electric drive motors as plug & play direct drives for small machines. As a result, Proclain can offer complete solutions for the electrification of main drives and auxiliary units on construction and agricultural machinery with electric motors developed and produced by MOTEG.

Also new are compressors and motor-pump combinations with integrated inverters. Developed and manufactured by MOTEG, they are currently in the B-sample phase, with the power electronics developed by the Slovenian developer and manufacturer of motor controllers and inverters EMSISO, part of the Poclain Group since 2023. The new Plug & Play units are distributed by the respective Group company responsible for the corresponding market segment.

The new developments were presented to a specialist audience of interested parties by MOTEG at the IAA Transportation trade fair in Hanover in September 2024 and by Poclain at the Bauma trade fair in Munich in April 2025. The consistently positive response confirms to all persons in charge that they have taken the right course of action with the decisions and measures they have implemented. The first orders have already been delivered.

With the establishment of a team of more than 100 experts from Poclain, MOTEG and Emsiso, the Group is also focusing intensively on the topic of electromobility, thus paving an important path towards the future of the Group and all its affiliated companies.

Further appearances at trade fairs are intended to raise awareness of the restructuring and the resulting innovations among a wide audience. With this in mind, Poclain will be attending Agritechnica in Hanover in November 2025. MOTEG presents new electric drives and auxiliary units, also in November 2025, at Solutrans in Lyon, France.

Parallel to the presentation and marketing of the new motors and units, the development of the next larger motor class in size 125 with outputs of 50-100 kW and low-voltage motors in size 80 (24-96 VDC, 5-10 kW) is already underway.

Overall, those responsible want to further intensify cooperation between the individual companies within the Poclain Group in the future. The aim is to expand global sales through MOTEG, Emsiso and Poclain and to communicate the collaboration to the outside world through joint trade fair appearances.
