Size 15 circular connectors: An efficient interface for decentralised drive systems
Designed for asynchronous drives and used in daisy-chain applications
Size 15 connectors are primarily used in asynchronous motors where frequency control is not required. This eliminates the need for complex EMC shielding via a metal housing. HARTING consistently opts for robust plastic housings, which reduce weight, simplify installation and offer cost-effective benefits at the same time. Furthermore, this circular connector is ideally suited for connecting multiple devices with low power consumption in a daisy-chain configuration.
Standardised, safe, high-performance
The Size 15 interface is internationally standardised in accordance with IEC 61076-2-115, thereby guaranteeing cross-manufacturer compatibility and second-source capability – a decisive factor for users in industrial automation.
The standard describes three clearly defined configurations:
HARTING offers solutions for the 630 V and 48 V variants in its portfolio. Depending on the version, this allows devices to be connected securely in a daisy-chain structure up to a total power of 16 kW, or an asynchronous motor with up to 7.5 kW – ideal for many of the upcoming decentralised drive components.
Bayonet lock for industrial applications
To ensure a secure connection, Size 15 utilises a bayonet lock throughout. This enables a quick, vibration-resistant connection and is optimally tailored to the demands of industrial environments.
Future-proof solution for compact drives
With Size 15, HARTING is offering, for the first time, a standardised alternative to the Han® 3A series, thereby bridging the gap between high-performance but heavy M23 metal connectors and very compact M12 power solutions, for which only a rectangular connector was previously available in the portfolio. Users benefit from an interface that is precisely tailored to the performance requirements of modern asynchronous drives.
HARTING thus once again underlines its commitment to actively shaping standardised and future-proof interfaces for industrial automation.
