This year’s marathon was especially meaningful for ISD. Our students, parents, faculty, staff, and Board members took part in all categories – from the children’s run to the relay race, to the half- and full marathons. We were also proud to power an official Verpflegungsstelle (aid station), supporting runners under the hot Düsseldorf sun, as well as hosting a ‘Meet & Greet’ tent welcoming both runners and their supporters right on the finish line.
With nearly 14,000 runners and over 250,000 spectators lining the route, it was a powerful reminder that challenges met together can create moments of unity, pride, and growth.
At ISD, volunteering is a meaningful way for our community to live out its core values; an opportunity for our students, parents, faculty, and staff to give back to the city and the local community we are proud to call home. Just as we’ve shown our commitment through initiatives like Dreck weg Tag and the Rhine Clean-Up, our involvement in the marathon highlights the spirit of service that defines ISD. We look forward to further opportunities to get involved in city events in the future.
A huge thank you goes out to the volunteers – both from ISD and the wider community. An event of this magnitude simply does not work without your energy, commitment, and generosity. Your support made all the difference!
