However, Chips 4 Light also has the necessary expertise and equipment, including controlled conditions at almost clean room level, to transfer LED chips in individual quantities from the mother wafer to customer-specific carriers such as foil, gel or waffle packs. For this purpose, wafer mappings provided by the manufacturer – the technical specifications (substrate mapping) of the individual LED chips on a wafer – are uploaded into the sorting equipment and then sorted.
If the mapping is not available, Chips 4 Light will, upon request, carry out the characterization itself by measuring the LED chips on the mother wafer. As a result, customer-specific selections and quantities can be provided.

As a climate-controlled storage system, Chips 4 Light uses dry storage cabinets to store optoelectronic components at less than 1% humidity, protecting them from aging due to environmental influences and thus keeping them permanently available for on-demand retrieval. In this way, Chips 4 Light effectively ensures long-term supply security and enables its customers to enjoy maximum flexibility in project design for years into the future. External storage supports just-in-time production strategies and saves companies the necessary investments in individual and specially required warehouse logistics and infrastructure.
