In November 2025, the Summit on European Digital Sovereignty reaffirmed the political will to make Europe more digitally resilient and independent. Since its founding, LANCOM Systems has been committed to strengthening IT resilience and digital sovereignty. The Rohde & Schwarz subsidiary is achieving this by developing high-performance network components with integrated IT security and, in particular, continuously expanding its firewall portfolio—now with the LANCOM R&S® UF-560.

The LANCOM R&S®UF-560 offers a firewall throughput of up to 20 Gbps, a UTM throughput of 1.5 Gbps, and it supports up to 3,000 VPN tunnels. The device is based on a new hardware design and offers 8 GE copper ports and 2 SFP+ ports. A slot for optional expansion modules (up to 40 G) also ensures maximum flexibility and scalability in connectivity.

SSL and deep packet inspection with machine learning

In terms of security features, the LANCOM R&S®UF-560 combines Unified Threat Management, sandboxing, and machine learning to reliably defend against even the latest threats. Powerful SSL inspection enables the analysis of encrypted connections, while the R&S®PACE2 Deep Packet Inspection Engine detects complex APTs, accurately classifies network traffic, protocols and applications, and enables data loss prevention up to layer 7. Potentially dangerous files are analyzed in an isolated sandbox that works with machine learning. This is based on a cloud service hosted in Germany.

User-friendly interface & cloud integration

The graphical user interface is designed to be intuitive and facilitates the central management of security and compliance policies. For high availability, the LANCOM R&S®UF-560 can be operated in an HA cluster. Seamless integration with the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) enables centralized monitoring, alerting, and remote configuration.

The LANCOM R&S®UF-560 is available through LANCOM certified system vendors. The recommended retail price (RRP) is €5,490 excl. VAT. Operations and software updates require at least the “Basic License”; the "Full License" unlocks the complete range of UTM functions. Licenses are available with terms of one, three, or five years. The LANCOM R&S®UF‑560 comes as standard with a three-year warranty, which can optionally be extended to five years.
