The World’s Most Attractive Mining Regions

The Fraser Institute examines how geology, politics, exploration decisions, and investment conditions are distributed worldwide.

Since 1997, the Fraser Institute has conducted an annual study on attractive mining regions. The current study surveyed participants from 68 regions. Nevada took first place, followed by Ontario and Saskatchewan. Not included in the top ten were the Canadian regions of Quebec, Yukon, British Columbia, and Manitoba, as well as Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Fourth place went to Western Australia, followed by Botswana, Norway, Sweden, and Saudi Arabia.

Nevada’s mining history began as early as the 19th century with a silver boom. Today, Nevada stands out for its politically stable environment, modern infrastructure, and attractive investment conditions. Nevada is rich in mineral resources and has a favorable regulatory environment. Tungsten, for example, is also found in Nevada. Its special properties are utilized in high-performance applications, such as in aerospace, manufacturing, medical technology, and the electronics sector.

The two Nordic countries, Norway and Sweden, also offer favorable conditions. They are attractive locations for the implementation of mining projects. Norway is home not only to oil and gas but also to significant deposits of copper, zinc, nickel, iron ore, and cobalt, as well as rare earth elements. One company with a presence in both Norway and Nevada is Blue Moon Metals.

Blue Moon Metals https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/blue-moon-metals-inc/ – owns the Nussir copper-gold-silver project in Norway, as well as the NSG copper-zinc-gold-silver project. Both are progressing very well. An underground access shaft is currently being constructed at Nussir. Then there is the Blue Moon zinc-copper-gold-silver project in the U.S. The acquisition of the Springer Mine has been completed, securing the infrastructure necessary for mineral processing in Nevada. There is also the possibility of recommissioning the Springer tungsten mine there.

Canada Nickel Company https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/canada-nickel-company-inc/ – holds nickel and cobalt reserves in its Crawford project in Ontario (ranked second in the Fraser ranking). With the approval of this project, the company has achieved a significant milestone in terms of environmental sustainability. According to the Canadian government, this is a project of strategic importance. The company has published very strong mineral resource estimates for eight of its nine properties. Additionally, the company has filed NI 43-101 reports for two nickel sulfide projects.
