Han® MPC 30/60: Lightweight, high-performance connectors for mobile applications
Both variants can accommodate up to four gold-plated high-speed contacts. These enable data transmission via DroneCAN, a widely used protocol for communication between drone control systems and peripherals. A critical connection is that between the battery and the electronic speed controller (ESC): Han® MPC supports smooth and seamless movement via the electric motors. In particular, the high pulse currents of the MPC30 – 180 A for 10 seconds–, and the MPC60 – approximately 350 A for 10 seconds – are what set this industrial solution apart.
Crimp contacts are used for power transmission – MPC30: Han-Yellock®, 4 mm², MPC60: Han® C, 10 mm² – which have proven themselves time and again in mechanical engineering, automation and power engineering. The surfaces are coated with gold or silver: This creates gas-tight connections between the conductor and the contact, ensuring high electrical reliability and consistent performance even under harsh conditions.
Due to growing requirements and increasing demand, drones have now evolved into highly regulated, mission-critical platforms that also serve public safety. HARTING’s solutions, which are based on and documented in accordance with European industry standards, meet these requirements. In the medium to long term, the manufacturer plans to introduce further MPC variants in order to offer a comprehensive portfolio for sub-application in drones.
The MPC interfaces have been specially developed for harsh environments in accordance with IEC 61373 (shock and vibration category 1B) and feature the IP40 protection rating (IEC 61529) required for internal cabling. The passive locking mechanism enables quick, intuitive connection and ensures maximum safety. An audible click confirms correct engagement. The grip area of the housing is designed to allow operation whilst wearing gloves. A strain relief can also be fitted.
