The NXP CoreRide Z248 system provides a hardware–software foundation, which is built to boost overall system performance, cut integration effort, and shorten development cycles, enabling auto OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers to concentrate on moving faster from zonal architecture concepts to production-ready solutions and freeing them from complex integration processes on the path to production.
Built on NXP’s S32K5 microcontroller series, the Z248 zonal reference system is delivered with a complete Board Support Package with pre-integrated software from the NXP CoreRide partner ecosystem. In addition to Lauterbach’s TRACE32® debugging and profiling software PowerView, it includes GLIWA‘s T1 performance monitoring suite, Green Hills’ software compiler, and Vector‘s embedded software and tools.
Lauterbach’s TRACE32® supports the entire Product Life Cycle (PLC) from Pre-Silicon to Prototyping & Testing to In-Field analysis including cloud-based debugging and profiling. It provides the broadest support for emulators, simulators and virtual targets in the industry as well as debugging of all the heterogeneous Arm® and RISC-V cores implemented in NXP’s S32K5 family. A supplementary trace analysis including code coverage measurements can support bringing automotive designs to market faster, safer, and more reliably than ever.
TRACE32® enables simultaneous debugging and tracing of the Arm® cores in S32K5 platform and RISC-V cores in S32K5 accelerators; a unique capability to cover the whole system. It does not matter whether the system is SMP (Symetric Multiprocessing), AMP (Asymetric Multiprocessing), or iAMP (Integrated Asymmetrical Multiprocessing). Lauterbach’s innovative iAMP debug and trace technology enables to debug multicore systems with identical CPU instruction sets in just one TRACE32® PowerView GUI.
“With TRACE32, NXP has expanded its CoreRide Z248 reference system to include the leading debug and profiling solution on the market,” says Alexandre Schaefer, Sales Director at Lauterbach GmbH. “The pre-integrated and pre-validated hardware/software stack will further accelerate time-to-market of SDV E/E architectures.”
“Lauterbach’s TRACE32 tools bring deep, system‑level observability and debuggability that is critical for developing and validating software‑defined vehicle architectures,” said Julien Battiston, General Manager of SDV and CoreRide platforms for NXP Semiconductors. “By integrating TRACE32 into the NXP CoreRide Z248 zonal reference system, we are expanding our pre‑validated ecosystem to help customers reduce integration complexity, accelerate debug and validation, and move more efficiently from zonal architecture concepts to production‑ready SDV platforms.”
The complete package undergoes extensive validation to help ensure optimized performance, while continuously improving processing efficiency and power consumption based on the primary use cases of a zonal ECU. It can be easily adapted to different variants of SDV E/E architectures and deployed across ICE, hybrid, and BEV platforms, supporting the industry’s transition toward zonal processing and ECU consolidation.
The NXP CoreRide Z248 zonal reference system including Lauterbach’s TRACE32® is now available to selected customers, backed by comprehensive system documentation, including a system safety manual, validated KPIs, and software integration guidance to accelerate adoption in upcoming vehicle programs.
