In April, the U.S. unveiled a strategy to develop nuclear energy systems for the Moon and space, with a launch date set for 2028. This is intended to enable longer stays on the Moon and, eventually, on Mars. NASA, the Pentagon, and the U.S. Department of Energy are tasked with developing the necessary technologies. Lunar missions have high energy requirements. This is the basis for the plan to send a medium-power space reactor – and smaller reactors as well, if possible, starting in 2030 – to the Moon.
These reactors would function like their counterparts on Earth. According to NASA, a reactor on the Moon would run virtually autonomously for ten years, continuously producing heat and electricity. India, China, and Russia are also interested in the Moon. The water needed for energy production could potentially be extracted from water ice, which is believed to exist on the Moon. This would make it possible to produce rocket fuel or bricks to protect a lunar base from radiation.
However, there are several obstacles to overcome. The reactor must be transported to the Moon by rocket, ideally without crashing. Furthermore, no country is permitted to annex parts of the Moon. There is even an Outer Space Treaty from 1967, including amendments. However, the major spacefaring nations have not ratified it. For now, reactors on Earth serve to provide sufficient energy, and uranium is necessary for this.
Premier American Uranium – https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/premier-american-uranium-inc/ – has uranium projects in five prime regions across the U.S. With its extensive land holdings, the company is ideally positioned to strengthen energy security in the U.S. A private placement has injected fresh capital into the company’s coffers. An extensive work program is planned for 2026 for the flagship Cebolleta project in New Mexico.
Uranium Royalty – https://www.commodity-tv.com/ondemand/companies/profil/uranium-royalty-corp/ – is a unique opportunity for investors seeking diversification, as it is the only royalty company in the uranium industry. Uranium Royalty focuses on strategic investments in uranium interests – including royalties, streaming rights, debt and equity in uranium companies, and physical uranium transactions. The company will acquire Sweetwater Royalties under the umbrella of a newly established parent company. This will significantly expand and diversify Uranium Royalty’s portfolio.
